Yi Tribal Shou Puerh Coins

Hand picked by the Yi and Dai tribes of Yunnan. Chen Mai cares for this tea garden, her Grandfather protected it from the Cultural Revolution as it enforced the severance of China’s connection with her past, in part by cutting down all the ancient tea trees. Thankfully the courage of this man has ensured Yang Ta Peak (2900 mt) is recognised as one of the few untouched tea forests in Yunnan. Here trees average and age of 200-500 years with some much older and some stand at heights of 8.5 mt.

The sacred, large leaf trees that make this tea average 400-500yo. There is a lovely gentle wisdom that shines through this tea.

Yi Tribal Shou Puerh Coins are a great entry into the world of Puerh. They are soft & deeply fermented, with fruit & chocolate notes reminiscent of a really good single origin cacao from Madagascar. It’s wholesome & spiced like a dessert version of a fabulous master stock.

The tea is pressed into convenient 6g ‘coins’ and individually wrapped making them the perfect puerh for travelling, the office, or impromptu, outdoors, gong fu happenings. Each 30g packet contains 5 coins.
