Organically grown and processed, this Houjicha is a comforting tea first produced in the 1920’s. Made by roasting Bancha, the twigs and stems left over from Sencha production, over charcoal. The roasting removes much of the catechins and it is delightfully low in caffeine. It is often referred to as Twig Tea or Baby Tea. It is very gentle on the tummy.
It’s aromas are of toasted nuts and caramel while it’s flavours are both sweet and savoury with coffee like hints.
